One of the greatest experiences for our first night in Paris! This place is superb and the service is great phenomenal. Even without reservations, the owner made us feel so welcome. Thank you to the wonderful owner and staff! We can't wait to come back

Josephine chez Dumonet was one of the more homey, old-school French bistros I dined at in Paris. I stumbled upon it when I was searching for 'best beef bourguignon in Paris' and this was one of the places that popped up. Though I've had limited experience in eating this dish, I can still say it is an incredibly indulgent, flavorful dish that should be eaten while in France. The foie gras with warm toasted bread was rich and creamy. I left the restaurant and was consequently struck with severe food coma while I was in Versailles. Completely worthwhile and would do it again.

I appreciate our visits in this restaurant. My husband and I traveled to Paris for our honeymoon and the "Love in Paris" book recommended this restaurant. We decided to try it out, unaware that reservations is highly recommended. The doors were locked, so we knocked. The waiters didn't speak English, politely signaled us to wait, and shut the doors. Puzzled, we waited for 15 minutes, eventually realizing that we arrived 15 minutes before the opening hours. Oops! Upon entering, we were immediately seated and provided with a menu along with a glass of champagne and pumpkin soup. Our waiter was friendly and attentive to help us read the French menu, even though we don't speak French. Luckily for Google Translate phone app, we were able to make an order. My husband ordered veal with mashed potatoes, delicious! I ordered steak with french fries and greens, also tasty! We also gave our compliments in French to their chef. We felt welcomed and promised to return someday soon. Update: Sept 2018, we did return here and brought my in-laws and friends with us. We ordered the same meal and loved them! The highlight was surprising our chef when he entered. Since it has been many years, he didn't know who we were. We explained our visit and he thanked us for coming back. Very polite and kind. We hope to come back again soon! :)
